[QUOTE="Nehanda, post: 26725, member: 2262"] Andoline Luipert began her journey at 19 when she started serving as Sam Nujoma's personal waitress at State House in 1992. Her duties included traveling alongside him during international visits to various nations. Through his mentorship and assistance, she later secured a Commonwealth scholarship for tourism and hospitality studies in Cyprus, an island nation situated between Turkey and Greece. The education opportunity transformed her professional path completely. Because of this early support, her career flourished, leading to her current position as a vocational instructor teaching tourism and hospitality skills at Kai//Ganaxab Youth Skills Training Centre, located near Mariental. During a recent conversation, Luipert expressed how Nujoma helped establish her future direction through guidance and encouragement. She described her experience at State House, saying Nujoma treated staff almost like family members. His leadership helped shape her character and provided crucial career development that might otherwise have remained unattainable. Her employment began unexpectedly after she overheard a discussion between her mother and uncle, former deputy prime minister Hendrik Witbooi, regarding an open position for a personal waitress. Her application was successful immediately, and life at State House became an exceptional experience for her. Nujoma demonstrated friendly communication habits yet maintained strict punctuality standards. He practiced healthy living routines, including early morning jogs around the State House grounds. He affectionately nicknamed her "Kadona" and often pointed out wildlife during travels with staff members. Upon completing her Cyprus education program in 1997, Luipert returned home. Nujoma personally welcomed her back to continue working at State House. After three months, she applied for a position through the Ministry of Youth and Sports at Kai//Ganaxab. Her application succeeded, prompting her relocation to Mariental in 1998 where she continues teaching today. The last face-to-face meeting between Luipert and Nujoma happened at Hendrik Witbooi's funeral ceremonies in 2009. Another waitress recognized her presence and informed Nujoma that "Kadona" had attended the event. He requested her presence in his seating area. During their brief conversation, he asked about her well-being and reminded her about her promise to educate people from southern regions. Namibia's founding president passed away on February 8, 2025, at 95 years old, in Windhoek. His burial service occurred last Saturday with national honors. When asked what final words she would share with Nujoma if given the chance, Luipert expressed simple gratitude, saying she would thank him for everything and tell him he remains deeply loved by many Namibians across the country.
