At a special service in Walvis Bay on Tuesday, people said nice things about Sam Nujoma. They talked about how smart he was when he helped Namibia become free. Everyone liked how much he cared about school and wanted Namibians to make their own money. Ben Amathila spoke for President Mbumba. He said Nujoma made good plans for freedom, found weapons to help fight, made sure people went to school during the hard times, and kept the country's special things safe. "People made fun of him. They drew bad pictures of him. The people who knew what was real stayed with him. In 1990, he helped free Namibia. Because Nujoma was smart, African countries helped Swapo. Many people at the United Nations gave support," Amathila said. Amathila asked everyone to stay together as friends. This was what Nujoma always wanted. That's why Walvis Bay came back to Namibia without any fighting. "We live in a small country and must be friends. Nujoma wanted everyone to be together his whole life. If we lose each other, we will lose our country. Nujoma was kind and always said, 'Go forward, never back.' He made choices and moved ahead. His plans were beautiful, and he brought Walvis Bay back without shooting," Amathila said. Samuel Nuuyoma used to work in Brazil. He said Nujoma believed real freedom comes when people can make their own money and learn lots of things. Nuuyoma asked young people to work hard and learn about science. This will help Namibia grow better. "He loved school, farms, and making poor areas better. He knew school would help build a happy country. Because he worked hard, Namibia became free from the bad rulers," he said. Nuuyoma wants everyone to remember Nujoma's dream of a happy Namibia where everyone works together.
