NWSC boss Dr. Silver Mugisha kicked off a big water project Thursday in Kalungu, Uganda. Local people finally have access to clean water after years of shortages. NWSC paid the entire UGX 20 billion price tag through market money deals. The new system pumps out 4 million liters of water every day. The water reaches many towns, including Kalungu, Kyamulibwa, Bugomola, Lusango, Luvule, Kamuli, and Lugasa. Dr. Mugisha said they saved money by designing everything themselves. This smart move cut down both costs and construction time. The setup takes water from Katonga River at 4,500 cubic meters daily through a four-kilometer pipeline. The treatment plant contains all the needed parts, such as aerators, coagulators, clarifiers, and sand filters. Dr. Mugisha announced that the plant already works perfectly. His team currently focuses on connecting homes and businesses to the water system. The project built a huge 1,500 cubic meter water tank on Sala Hill plus 6.6 kilometers of clean water pipes. They also installed 20 kilometers of distribution pipes, added a smaller 100 cubic meter backup tank, and constructed an administration building. Engineers Paddy Twesigye and Denis Taremwa showed visitors around the completed facilities and explained how designing projects internally saves money and time. MS Zhonghao Overseas Construction worked with GETS Technical Services to build everything. This water system fixes the long-standing water problems that hold back growth in Kalungu. The reliable, clean water supply helps transform daily life for all residents in the area. Many local families can finally count on safe drinking water every day. NWSC completed this major achievement by making clean water available throughout the entire region.
