The Catholic Church in Obuasi wants to throw a big party. They became an important church group thirty years ago, in 1995. To celebrate this special birthday, they will have many fun events all year until December. Father Francis Darko talked about how old their church really is. Catholics have lived and prayed in Obuasi for more than one hundred years. He feels proud of all the good things they have done to help people. The church built Saint Thomas School and gives money to people who need help. They made a place where everyone can meet and do things together. They even help small shops and businesses grow with their special bank. The church helps students go to college through something they call "One Parish, One Student." Father Darko wants to start Saint Thomas Media. This will let people around the world watch their church services on screens at home. He thanks everyone who helped make the church strong and asks them to keep supporting their work. Mrs. Genevive Opoku Mensah leads the team, planning all the birthday events. She picked a special message for the celebration. It talks about hope and looking for treasures in heaven. The church will have many fun activities, like radio shows and games on Easter Monday and special talks about money and business. They will teach people about being good leaders and having happy marriages. The church plans to sing songs together and help sick people at a small hospital. People will walk for health and carry candles at night. Students will have contests to show what they know. Some church members will travel to Rome and Accra. They will thank God in a special service and have a big party at the end. Mr. John Alexander Ackon, who leads the church, remembers all the people who worked hard years ago to build their church. He says these people made the church strong. The Obuasi Catholic Church wants to keep helping people and making their community better as they celebrate their birthdays.
