Ocean Swift Synthesis is bringing back its free Windows plugins with fresh VST3 updates. The company shut down in 2020, making its popular synth plugins unavailable. Fast-forward to 2024, and OSS returns with a different business setup. They launched a Kontakt synth pack called Porphyra Hybrid, followed by wavetable creator software. They just released their Part 1 free Legacy bundle. This free collection includes five classic plugins. First, OSS Enterprise 1 combines four sound makers with different methods—analog, wavetable, additive, and vector techniques. It includes twin filters, shape controls, pulse generators, and built-in effects. Users receive over 400 ready sounds. Next, the Aeolian Meditation and Dream Box plugins focus on additive sound creation. Dream Box trades certain features for full chord play and runs better than its keyboard-oriented partner. Xbox Control transforms gamepads into music controllers. The Shruti Box VST copies traditional Indian drone sounds through additive methods. Lastly, the Music Handyman Toolbox helps creators with useful math tools and music references. These tools serve both musicians and sound makers. OSS plans to release more classics next year—Polyphenom 1+2, Defiant WT, and QuirQuiQ should arrive between April and June 2025. These free plugins work great but remain Windows-only even in 2025. Musicians would benefit if these synths worked on Mac and Linux computers. Perhaps OSS could release their code as open-source, letting other programmers adapt it for different systems. The entire bundle works as both VST and VST3 plugins on Windows computers. Anyone can download these synths free of charge from the OSS website.
