Police in Namibia have started looking into a massive cattle stealing case near Outjo. Thieves took more than 60 cows from many farms and killed most of them. Local farmers feel very upset about this crime. They want stronger actions against people who steal farm animals in their area. Chief Inspector Vehangaiza Hindjou from the Kunene region told people what happened. A farmer and his workers followed tracks from their missing cows last Thursday. They found a terrible scene on another farm where bad guys had cut up over 30 cattle. The criminals ran away when they realized someone had caught them doing this awful thing. They had pulled off all the ear tags that showed who owned the animals. Some cows stayed alive but suffered terribly with cuts on their legs. The thieves even removed hooves from these poor animals. The farmer and his team later discovered at least 30 more dead cows in another spot on that same farm. Hindjou said they think these animals came from different farms nearby. Nobody has officially reported the case yet, but police keep investigating everything. One farmer lost 18 cows in this horrible attack but asked reporters not to share his name. He believes that pure greed caused this crime, not hunger. He begged the government to declare stock theft an emergency. He thinks officials fail to see how serious these problems have become for farmers like him. Many victims stop reporting thefts because cases stay unsolved for years. When police do catch somebody, courts often let those people out on bail quickly. The same farmer asked for much stronger help from the government. He wants them to send soldiers from the Namibian Defence Force to fight stock theft across the country. He believes police cannot handle this huge problem alone without extra support. Farmers need the government to step up and protect their animals from these organized criminals. The situation has become desperate for many people raising cattle in this region. They fear losing their livelihood if these large-scale thefts continue happening without serious consequences.
