He believes that pure greed caused this crime, not hunger. He begged the government to declare stock theft an emergency. He thinks officials fail to see how serious these problems have become for farmers like him. Many victims stop reporting thefts because cases stay unsolved for years. When police do catch somebody, courts often let those people out on bail quickly. The same farmer asked for much stronger help from the government. He wants them to send soldiers from the Namibian Defence Force to fight stock theft across the country. He believes police cannot handle this huge problem alone without extra support. Farmers need the government to step up and protect their animals from these organized criminals. The situation has become desperate for many people raising cattle in this region.
