[QUOTE="Munyaradzi Mafaro, post: 48045, member: 636"] The People's National Party ran straight to the Asantehene with serious complaints about their suspended Chief Justice. Party members delivered a petition to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia Palace last Tuesday. They accused President John Dramani Mahama and his NDC party of plotting against Justice Gertrude Araba Torkornoo for political revenge. The PNP claims the government wants to control all three branches of government through dirty tricks. Party leaders say the whole suspension process looks fake and unfair. Janet Nabila leads the PNP and she told reporters the president targets women leaders on purpose. She said watching the Chief Justice suffer made her cry because the treatment seemed cruel and wrong. Nabila believes Mahama abuses his presidential power to scare important female officials into silence. The party leader thinks the justice system has become just another political weapon for the ruling party. She called the government wicked and vindictive during what should be a time for national thanksgiving. The PNP chose traditional leadership because they lost faith in modern democratic systems. Nabila explained that chiefs existed long before democracy came to Ghana and still represent moral authority. The party wants the Asantehene to use his influence to stop what they see as unfair treatment. They worry that attacking the Chief Justice damages both the justice system and gender equality across the country. The petition asks for royal intervention to restore fairness to national politics.
