Path of Exile 2 starts a fresh hunt on April 4th at noon ET. Players can experience a brutal new time of carnage with Dawn of the Hunt. This marks the first big content update since the game came out in Early Access last year. You can take down prey with the new Huntress class, who uses a Spear and Buckler for both melee and ranged fights. Five new ascension classes enter the game: Ritualist, Amazon, Smith of Kitava, Tactician, and Lich. Dozens of new encounters await you in the endgame, along with many mechanical changes. The update brings over one hundred new unique items plus expanded crafting options to help you kill monsters better. The Huntress lets you destroy enemies using both distance attacks and close combat. She was sent away from her homeland and hunted prey using spear throws and nearby attacks. Her weapons make fighting feel like you never stop moving as you switch between close-range and far-away attacks quickly. She can Parry monster attacks to stun them before hitting back with different counter moves. You might jump back after a Parry with Disengage to earn a Frenzy charge, then throw an extra-strong spear. The Huntress has many elemental spear attacks that work together for some of the longest attack chains ever made for any class. The five new Ascendancy Classes bring fresh ways to build your character. The Ritualist Huntress gives up flesh and blood to release corrupted life force at enemies. She studied forbidden Azmeri secrets and used blood sacrifice and disease as weapons. The Amazon Huntress excels with accuracy and element powers as an elite hunter sworn to guard Azmeri Elders with deadly aim. The Witch can become a Lich who tears apart her soul to master undeath and chaos. She controls Chaos and Curses, using her life to boost Energy. The Warrior can choose Smith of Kitava to create weapons through fire and pain. This path lets you enhance Smithing by connecting with the hungry god, Kitava. The Mercenary can pick a Tactician to use military force on the battlefield. As a former Blackguard Elite, this fighter destroys monsters across Wraeclast for good pay. Besides the 20 new Spear Skills for the huntress, players wanted two other abilities that finally arrived. Raise Spectre captures monster souls from almost any creature for your undead army. With hundreds of monster types, players can test endless combinations. Summon Rhoa Mount calls a Rhoa to fight beside you or carry you at full speed during attacks. Watch out because taking damage might knock you off and leave you helpless. The expansion adds over 100 new Support Gems that change how you build characters. These gems modify your skills in game-changing ways. Haemocrystals turn the bleeding effects into exploding Vaal crystals. Caltrops make your skills spread slowing traps across the battlefield. Dawn of the Hunt focuses on mid-game and endgame unique items that high-level characters want to find. New crafting tools come as rewards from many game areas. Over 20 new runes appear that let you add new effects to gear. Runes have multiple power levels for stronger effects that stay useful at high levels. More special socketable mods arrive with this update as the first wave of expanded crafting choices. The Azmeri Spirit appears throughout Wraeclast as wisps that run away when approached. Monsters touched by these wisps become stronger. The wisps find and possess Rare or Unique monsters, giving them powerful new abilities and better rewards. Twelve different wisp types exist, each with unique behaviors and prizes. Eight new Maps join the game with fresh challenges and rewards. Each map has interesting encounters. The Fractured Lake forces you to battle mirrored Rare monsters in a shifting reality. The Phaaryl Megaliths throws you into wild Ezomyte Forests where rune-carved stones pulse with energy. If you survive waves of storm-powered bosses, you earn full boss rewards and exclusive Runes. Four new Unique Strongboxes appear with deadly tricks and valuable loot. Ogham's Legacy features a rune-carved stone with a dead creature that comes back as a powerful Rare monster when activated. Each time you defeat it, another resurrection happens with added changes, making fights harder but more rewarding. Ixchel's Torment uses ancient Vaal magic to send Chaos-powered guardians that protect a powerful artifact. Winners receive a unique item with a specific Corrupted outcome. Essences improve with four new Corrupted types - Hysteria, Delirium, Horror, and Insanity. These bring new fight mechanics and powerful crafting results like guaranteed double Enchantments when using Vaal Orbs on belts. Corruption spreads across Wraeclast, forming larger zones with Corrupted Nexus centers where three scary new bosses live. These bosses form from Corruption itself. When you beat these bosses, the remaining areas within the Corruption zone become cleansed. Cleansed Maps have extra new monsters, a new boss, and their specific Modifiers and rewards. You might meet Rogue Exiles during travels - other exiles who want to fight you to death. These Exiles can Dodge Roll, avoid your skills with smart movement, target well, and play much like real players. Rogue Exiles uses player skills and items. They know how to use their Unique items effectively. When you kill these Exiles, all their items fall on the ground for you to take. The endgame changes significantly with Dawn of the Hunt. Tower numbers decrease, but they become much stronger. Tablets affect twice as many areas, and running higher tier Maps in Towers increases this number further. Each Tower can use up to three Tablets at once. These changes cut down busywork in the endgame but improve how you use them. Towers can spawn with all mechanics and have new Bosses. April 4th at noon PT marks when hunters rise or fall as prey. The Dawn of the Hunt update works with existing Early Access leagues for current characters. Starting fresh in a new economy gives the full experience in Dawn of the Hunt leagues. Play Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt on PC, Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic Games Store when it launches on April 4th across all platforms at the same time.
