KCCA's title hype just got a reality check from some cops with a football team. Police FC shut them down 2-0 this Wednesday at their Kira Road Arena in Kamwokya, completely halting KCCA's post AFCON momentum. The first half was a cautious slog with barely any real action. Everything changed after halftime. Brian Obedi smashed in a volley to open the scoring in the 52nd minute. Denis Kalanzi set it up with a neat headed pass. Police kept the pressure on and found a second goal later. Kalanzi was involved again, looping a header over the keeper for Bedia Ikamba to tap home. The loss marks only the second defeat this season for KCCA. Their first was against Vipers SC. This result throws a major wrench into their championship aspirations early on. Police coach Mathias Lule praised his squad's second-half shift. Lule said the players showed real desire and played their hearts out. He admitted the first half creation was poor but pointed to their clinical edge after the break as the key difference. The win bumps the Police up to third place with 24 points. Despite the strong league position, Lule immediately waved off any title chatter. He stated their focus is simply on improving each game, not winning the league. Meanwhile, Vipers SC climbed to the top of the table. Vipers beat Mbarara City 2-0 at Kitende under the lights. Allan Okello scored a penalty before Abdul Karim Watambala added another. That result pushed Vipers to 27 points, demoting KCCA to second place. Down in Hoima, Buhimba United finally remembered how to win. They edged Maroons FC 1-0 at The Royal Park. Derrick Byabachwezi got the lone goal, offering a flicker of hope in their tough fight against relegation.
