Activist Linda Masarira publicly challenged Nyathi's account, accusing the police of spreading misinformation. Masarira asserted that Mabvirakure was disoriented and unable to provide a statement when police arrived. She threatened to bring journalists to confront the police about their version of events and Mabvirakure's current condition.
