Police FC finally broke their eight-match losing streak with a clutch win against Express FC on Thursday. The game at Nakivubo stadium saw two second-half substitutes turning the tide for the Cops. Obedi Brian James entered the match before halftime and made an immediate impact. He received a perfectly timed pass from Denis Kalanzi and coolly slotted the ball past Express goalkeeper Emmanuel Kalyowa just eight minutes into the second half. Twenty minutes later, Obedi set up Male Reagan for the second goal. Kalanzi's low drive created the opportunity, and Male tapped in the ball after a slick assist from Obedi. Male had just replaced Emmanuel Loki at the start of the second half and scored his first goal of the round. Express managed a late consolation goal in the 87th minute when substitute Conrad Ssenjogera capitalized on a loose ball after Police goalkeeper Edward Kasibante fumbled a cross. The victory ended the Police's winless drought since their December 4th win against Wakiso Giants. After 20 games, Simon Peter Mugerwa's squad sits in 12th place with 23 points, while Express dropped to 7th with 28 points. Police will next focus on their Stanbic Uganda Cup match against Maroons on Monday, March 17th, with their next league game scheduled against Kitara FC on the 27th. The match results also showed UPDF FC losing 1-2 to KCCA and Mbale Heroes falling 1-3 to Lugazi. Friday's upcoming fixtures include matches between Kitara and Mbarara City, BUL and URA, Soltilo Bright Stars and SC Villa, Maroons and NEC, and Vipers SC facing Wakiso Giants.
