A prosecutor asked a judge to give three men life sentences for killing a cattle theft investigator. The men murdered Wilfred Kazeurua after he looked into stolen livestock near Gobabis in December 2012. Deputy prosecutor general Hesekiel Iipinge made the request during court hearings at Windhoek prison. Acting judge Alfred Siboleka heard arguments about punishments for the convicted killers. The court will announce sentences on July 11. Stockley Kauejao planned the theft of 15 cattle and ordered the murder of investigator Kazeurua. Matheu Kakururume and Muvare Kaporo strangled the 55-year-old investigator to death on December 28, 2012. The killers burned his body and buried it on a farm. Police found the remains about 10 days later. A fourth man, Afas Kamutjemo, faces charges for helping steal cattle and blocking justice. The prosecutor said the three murderers showed no sorry feelings for their crimes. He argued they cannot change their criminal ways. The men treated the victim with great disrespect after killing him. Their planned attack makes them dangerous to other people. Only life prison terms fit such serious crimes. Defense lawyers asked for lighter punishments. They said Kauejao has spent seven years behind bars since his arrest in January 2013. Attorneys for the other two men suggested 20-year sentences with part suspended. One lawyer said his client supported six children and his mother with his truck driving job. The families will suffer if the men receive long prison terms.
