Eidos Montreal still loves Deus Ex. They asked many companies to make a brand new game in this series. This happened after big company Embracer stopped work on an earlier Deus Ex project. The game team visited lots of publishers, hoping someone might want this fresh idea. Nobody said yes. One publisher even claimed the Deus Ex games appeal to a very small group of players. The team tried really hard by talking to every possible partner they could find. This means fans probably will not see any new Deus Ex adventures soon. Companies that publish games have become scared to try anything risky. This sad fact came from Tom Henderson during a recent podcast about gaming news. Deus Ex Mankind Divided from 2016 will stay as the last game in this famous series for many years. This cyberpunk action game earned good reviews when it first appeared. Players enjoyed its complex story choices and role-playing elements. The game had some problems but mostly pleased critics and fans alike. Anyone who likes deep stories with player choices would enjoy this older title. The gaming world changes fast. Big companies often prefer safe bets over creative risks, which hurts series like Deus Ex, which has loyal but smaller fan groups. Eidos Montreal clearly wants to keep making these games despite all these problems. They believe in what Deus Ex offers players. The rejection from every publisher shows how the market views games with complex stories and meaningful player choices. Players who miss Adam Jensen and his augmented adventures might need to replay the old games instead of hoping for new ones. The canceled project would have continued the story where Mankind Divided ended. We may never learn what happened next in that cyberpunk world. Game cancellations happen often, but rarely do we hear about teams shopping their ideas around afterward. This shows how much Eidos Montreal cares about their creation. They refused to give up after the first rejection. Publishers look at sales numbers rather than artistic value when making decisions. The business side of gaming often works against creative teams with passionate ideas but limited commercial appeal.
