This Zimkids spot is not a full-time orphanage.  Kids show up from morning until evening for food and activities, then head back to whatever family they have.  They try to keep the children connected to their homes and neighborhoods.  Basa mentioned they even send monthly food packages to those families for evening meals.  The center handles all age groups, including teenagers.  They pay for primary and secondary school fees and offer vocational training in things like baking, farming, or solar panel installation for older kids.  Some medical help is also provided, particularly for children living with HIV.

Hualin Quarry has been doing these holiday donations for a few years now.  Ward 17 Councillor Sikhululekile Moyo said the company helps out with other community projects too, like fixing roads or putting water kiosks in schools.  Their public relations guy, Ayibongwe Moyo, stated they want to keep supporting vulnerable groups since they see themselves as part of the community, not just some business operating there.
