[QUOTE="Munyaradzi Mafaro, post: 45459, member: 636"] Police caught people stealing parts from train tracks across three Nigerian cities. Railway officials reported thieves taking fish plates, bolts, nuts and steel sleepers from the tracks. These pieces keep trains running safely on the rails. Dr. Kayode Opeifa from the Nigeria Railway Corporation announced the arrests on Monday. Criminal activity damaged important railway equipment that costs lots of money to replace. Workers found missing track parts near Idi-Ose Village on June 11. Staff member Adesina Fabumi discovered 56 fish plates and fasteners had disappeared from the railway. Inspector Oniwara Babatunde caught suspect Wasiu Musa from Ajia Village the next day. Musa admitted his crimes and told police about partner Abdullahi Salman who ran away. Officers arrested another man named Usman Bashir and found 33 fish plates and many other stolen railway pieces. Gombe police stopped a blue car carrying suspected stolen steel rail sleepers. Two people were arrested and are helping with the investigation. Kano State officers caught four suspects destroying railway lines near Zakirai town on June 15. The men aged between 21 and 30 admitted their guilt when they appeared before a judge on June 19. All four criminals received prison sentences for damaging public property and railway infrastructure.
