Ukrainian game studio Reburn just announced that their sci-fi shooter La Quimera will launch on April 25 on PC. Lucky players can test it this weekend during a Steam Closed Beta. The team started making this game back in 2020, but Russia's invasion of Ukraine slowed them down. They kept going despite everything happening in their country. Reburn used to be part of 4A Games until they split after Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. Both studios worked together on Metro Exodus until 2020, when Reburn began La Quimera. The game takes place in the 2060s, when global states have collapsed into city-states run by military companies. Players will explore Nuevo Caracas, where the past meets the future in a story-rich world. The main campaign takes about five hours for experienced players. You can play alone or team up with friends for an extra challenge. The game adjusts difficulty based on how many people play together. Each player can pick their personal challenge level during co-op sessions. Reburn built La Quimera using Unreal Engine 4 instead of their old 4A Engine. They improved texture streaming and added better lighting systems. The game supports DLSS and FSR but skips ray tracing for better performance across different computers. The team hopes to add newer tech versions soon.
