Rigathi Gachagua is frantically backpedaling to save his political skin after insulting the Somali community. The former Deputy President is suddenly obsessed with long-standing social and economic ties, which is hilarious considering he just finished linking Eastleigh business activities to the Minnesota fraud. He claims that the relationship between the Somali community and the Mt Kenya region is close, using the phrase Jamii ya Wasomali na ya Mlima Kenya hatuwezi kutenganishwa. It is a total 180 from his earlier rhetoric. He is literally begging for a reset. Rigathi Gachagua insists that he harbors zero resentment, but the North Eastern media stations basically ghosted his planned roundtable interview. They released a statement about responsible journalism and national unity instead of giving him a platform. It is a massive embarrassment for his team. The guy is now praising the work ethic and mobility of these communities while claiming their contribution to trade is essential. He previously complained about a mall in Eastleigh importing rice, which supposedly hurt farmers. The hypocrisy is actually reaching record-breaking levels. Kalonzo Musyoka even had to step in recently to calm the backlash from Northeastern leadership, including Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi. Rigathi Gachagua is playing damage control because he realized he cannot win in 2027 by alienating every major voting bloc outside his backyard. He is urging Kenyans to reject divisive politics, which is rich coming from the person who triggered this entire storm. The Democracy for the Citizens Party leader is trying to pivot to unity. It feels like a desperate attempt to stay relevant after his impeachment.
