The Oshikoto area saw 33 new malaria cases from January 31 to February 3. Health boss Joshua Nghipangelwa said 520 people have fallen ill since November 2024. Six people died.

The area had 79 cases in early January. The holiday time brought 94 more cases. Nghipangelwa said some people do not want help. They keep their doors shut when health teams come to spray homes.

"People do not follow health rules," he said. Many wait until they become sick before they ask for help.

The illness affects everyone—young, old, men, and women. Omuthiya has 219 cases, Onandjokwe counts 172 sick people, and Tsumeb reports 129 cases. Most people, 437 of them, got sick in Namibia. Another 83 came from Angola with the illness.

Nghipangelwa asked people to visit health centers if they feel sick. Signs include hot body, head pain, shaking, throwing up, and body aches.

He wants people to be safe from malaria. "Sleep under nets. Use plant medicine. Put on long clothes at night. Use things that keep bugs away. Let our teams spray your homes," he said.
