The islands of Zanzibar will soon have better roads everywhere. Second Vice President Hemed Suleiman Abdulla shared this news as he started a big road project. People won't struggle with bad roads much longer, he said. He spoke at an event marking both the new Mazizini-Chukwani-Maunganui Road and the islands' 61st freedom day. The road will stretch 28.2 kilometers when done. The government wants smooth roads in cities and villages. These new roads help people move around and make money. Mr. Abdulla said the changes from their 1964 revolution help everyone, no matter who they are. He added that roads bring money to the islands. Both Unguja and Pemba need good roads to grow. But he asked drivers to be careful. New roads cost a lot, and crashes hurt people and break these roads. Mr. Abdulla spoke against people who try to cause trouble. Peace matters most since their revolution, he said. He wants everyone to protect what they gained in 1964. Transport Minister Dr. Khalid Salum Muhammed said they plan to provide more ways to move around. Fast trains and water taxis will join the new roads. He asked people to wait as workers built these projects. Dr. Habiba Hassan Omar runs the office that builds roads. She said a Chinese company will make the new road, which will cost 21 million dollars. The road includes paths for walking and signs to keep people safe. Rainwater drains will stop floods. The changes show how Zanzibar keeps growing. Better roads mean better lives for everyone on the islands.
