Trade figures show Kenya exports $176.04 million (Sh22.8 billion) to Egypt annually. Egyptian imports into Kenya total $340.10 million (Sh44.2 billion). Ruto proposed creating a Joint Business Council to boost these numbers and explore new opportunities.

The leaders plan additional agreements in customs, security, tourism, and water management. "These will strengthen our shared vision for economic transformation," Ruto said. He aims to reduce trade barriers and improve customs procedures.

Ruto traveled with a delegation that included Prime Cabinet Secretary Mudavadi and several cabinet members. African Union Commission candidate Raila Odinga also joined the state visit.

The presidents discussed regional security issues. Ruto praised Egyptian President El-Sisi's efforts toward peace in Gaza and humanitarian aid delivery.

The agreements build on talks from a March 2024 meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee. Both nations expect these partnerships to enhance diplomatic and economic relations.
