Kenya's President Ruto talked with religious group leaders at State House in Nairobi Tuesday evening about health coverage for everyone. These groups help run medical centers and work with the government to provide healthcare across Kenya.
"They really make our health system stronger and help Kenyans stay healthy," said Ruto in his statement. They discussed how Kenya plans to make healthcare better. Several church leaders attended, including Anglican Bishop Charles Asilutwa, Africa Gospel Church Bishop Robert Lang'at, and Catholic Bishop Norman King'oo Wambua from Machakos.
The meeting also included Africa Inland Church's Bishop Abraham Mulwa, Methodist Church's Bishop Isaiah Deye, and PCEA's Moderator Thegu Mutahi. Later that evening, President Ruto welcomed Muslim leaders for Iftar - the meal that breaks the daily Ramadan fast.
Ruto asked Muslim leaders and all religious guides "to lead God's people humbly." He promised continued support for religious places like mosques and churches because Kenya values freedom of worship. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, and Environment CS Aden Duale joined other officials at the Iftar dinner.
