Ruto described himself as someone who believes people deserve another shot. He said most folks perform better when given that opportunity. "Even though Muturi found it hard to succeed as Attorney General, we were friends who worked and campaigned together, so I wanted to give him another chance," Ruto said.

"I offered my buddy Muturi a fresh opportunity, but he basically fired himself. What did he expect me to do?" Ruto added. "He'll be okay financially since he receives an excellent pension from his time as speaker." Ruto clearly felt he had tried to help his friend but couldn't keep someone who wasn't meeting his job responsibilities.
