Rwanda Rejects Congo Accusations for Regional Stability

Rwanda's Defence Minister, Juvenal Marizamunda, met with other world leaders to talk about peace. He had to answer some hard words from DR Congo's President Tshisekedi, who blamed Rwanda for fighting in his country.

Bad things happened near Rwanda's border. The DR Congo army and their friends shot at a Rwandan city called Rubavu. They killed 16 people and hurt many others. Minister Marizamunda said Rwanda never attacked DR Congo and never will. He said Rwanda just wants to keep itself safe from dangerous people coming across the border.

The Minister explained that Rwanda makes money by selling things to DR Congo. In 2021, Rwanda sold more than $700 million worth of goods to DR Congo. This shows Rwanda wanted peace because fighting would stop them from doing business together.

Some fighters called M23 have taken over important places in DR Congo. They captured a big city named Goma and an airport near another city called Bukavu. DR Congo says Rwanda helps these fighters, but Rwanda says this isn't true.

Rwanda tells a different story. They say DR Congo helps bad people who want to hurt Rwanda. These people belong to a group called FDLR, who did terrible things to Rwanda many years ago. DR Congo's president has even said out loud that he works with this group.

Minister Marizamunda wants everyone to look at the real facts instead of blaming each other. He thinks Rwanda and DR Congo can both do better if they work together and live in peace.
