Samsung Pauses One UI 7 as S24 phones bug out

Samsung stopped its global rollout of the One UI 7 update after serious problems emerged. The company began releasing the Android 15-based update for Galaxy S24 phones, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 devices on April 7, 2025. Following six beta versions and several delays, users looked forward to interface improvements and new AI features.

The celebration ended quickly when reports surfaced about a critical bug affecting Galaxy S24 phones in Korea. Tipster Ice Universe highlighted that many users became locked out of their devices after installing the update. The problem appears to be mainly connected to models running the Exynos 2400 chip rather than Snapdragon processors.

Samsung responded swiftly, removing all update files from its servers. This suggests the issue might affect more devices than initially thought. The company decided against using a simple security patch, indicating the bug requires more extensive fixes. Samsung hasn't made any public statement about the situation.

Users worldwide must wait longer for the promised interface overhaul and customization options. The company planned to expand the update to additional models and regions throughout April and May, but these plans remain on hold until Samsung resolves the lockscreen failure issue.
