Uganda beach soccer players started serious training on Sunday, May 25, for the CECAFA championship. The Sand Cranes team met at FUFA House before traveling to Bamboo Gardens Beach Soccer Arena. Twenty-two players will prepare for the tournament, which will be held June 6 through 11 in Mombasa, Kenya. Head coach Arch Rica Byaruhanga leads the technical staff in preparing the squad. Assistant coaches Akabwai Geofrey and Baker Lukooya help guide the team during practice sessions.

Players come from different beach soccer clubs and schools across Uganda. The squad mixes experienced athletes with younger talent ready to compete at the regional level. Defenders like Kikonyogo Jonathan from St Lawrence University joined forwards such as Edweu Godfrey from Teso College. Kampala City Beach Soccer Club sent several players to represent Uganda. Four goalkeepers will compete for the starting position during the championship games.

The technical team wants Uganda to perform well at this important regional competition. Team doctor Kulika Ivan will care for player health during training and matches. Manager Ssebagala Tonny handles logistics for the traveling squad. Players from Makerere University Business School and the Buganda Royal Institute bring academic backgrounds to the team. The Sand Cranes hope their preparation leads to success against other East African countries.
