School Fee Financing Transforms Education Access in Uganda. Financial barriers keep many Ugandan students from finishing their education, with data showing that 42.8 percent of primary school students never reach Primary Seven. The Uganda National Examinations Board and Education Sports Sector reports reveal this stark reality affects countless families struggling with tuition and academic expenses. The impact hits hardest during examination periods. Many students face exclusion from crucial P7, S4, and S6 tests because they cannot clear fee balances. This creates lasting setbacks for young learners' academic futures. Dennis Musinguzi, CEO of Furaha Finserve Uganda Limited, believes education changes lives fundamentally. "We understand what education means to parents and children. We recognize the power and transformational effects education has on people. This drove our interest," he said. SchoolPay General Manager Osbert Muganga highlighted how unpaid fees harm both parents and students. He described scenarios where working parents receive calls about children sent home, disrupting workplace focus and national productivity. The emotional toll weighs heaviest on students, especially those preparing for examinations. "Someone studied from S1 to S4, day and night, yet faces rejection from exams over fees. That child bears permanent scars," Muganga explained. A new partnership between Furaha Finserve and Service Cops Limited through the School Pay Platform aims to revolutionize education financing. The collaboration merges Furaha's purpose-built technology with School Pay's digital payment expertise to create accessible school fee solutions. Through streamlined loan applications, parents can access affordable financing with minimal interest rates. The system enables direct school payments and flexible 90-day repayment terms. Furaha co-founder Ian Fernandes noted widespread benefits across schools nationwide. "The impact happens immediately and meaningfully," he said. The initiative marks a significant shift in addressing Uganda's educational barriers. By easing financial pressures on families, more students can complete their studies and pursue their academic goals without interruption.
