School Mourns 4 Students in Shocking Bus Crash

Kenya Education Minister Mourns Students Killed in Bus Crash.

Four students from Dr Aggrey Boys' High School died Saturday in a bus crash on the Wundanyi-Mwatate Road. The crash also killed two others - a parent and the bus driver.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba offered condolences to the victims' families Sunday.

"I extend my deepest condolences to the families, friends, and relatives of the deceased," Ogamba said. He wished the injured students a quick recovery.

The minibus crashed at Josa bend after its brakes failed. The students were heading home following two fires at their school.

Several injured students received treatment at Moi Referral Hospital in Voi. Others went to St. Joseph Mission Hospital.

The school closed earlier that day after the second fire in three days. The first fire struck Thursday night, and a second blaze erupted Saturday, sending smoke across the campus.

Students, residents, and county firefighters contained both fires. No one suffered injuries during the fires. The cause remains under investigation.

School officials evacuated all students and closed the institution indefinitely after the second fire.
