The security big shots in Embu County have a message for the people. Cool it with the protests! They want folks to chill out after Billy Munyiri Mwangi went missing. Samuel Muthamia is the top cop in the county. He told everyone to keep the peace on Sunday. The police are busting their butts to find Mwangi, he said. Mwangi is just 24 years old. He lives in Nairobi but was visiting family in Embu. That's when four shady dudes in hoodies snatched him up! It happened right outside a barber shop on December 21st. The goons stuffed Mwangi into a white truck. He asked why they were arresting him. They said he'd find out later. Then they took off! The cops say Mwangi's phone got turned off right after he was taken. It happened super close to where he was last seen. But nobody knows why he was targeted. The people of Embu are pissed! They took to the streets to protest on Friday. It caused a big ruckus in town. Shops had to close up because they were scared of looters. Muthamia understands why people are angry, but he's begging them to keep their cool. The cops need time to find Mwangi, he said. Mwangi's family is totally shaken up. His mom, Regina Wairimu, is devastated. She wants her boy back alive! If he did something wrong, she'd say sorry to him. Mwangi's dad, Gerald Karicha, is in agony. He can't figure out why anyone would want to hurt his well-behaved son. If the government has him, they better let him go! Sadly, Mwangi isn't the only one who's gone missing. Lots of people who speak out against the government have disappeared. The human rights folks say at least 82 people have been snatched up since June. And 29 of them are still gone! A Catholic priest named Ambrose Kimutai is pointing the finger at President William Ruto. He says Ruto and his buddies in power can't act innocent. They're all in it to help themselves, not the little guy. Father Kimutai is really worried. Two young men from his county vanished on December 5th. Masked men took Elvis Kevin Langat and Dominic Kipngeno Langat in an unmarked car. The priest says things are getting as bad as the old days. Critics used to get thrown in torture chambers! He wants Ruto to admit his government is messing up big time. Kimutai said Kenyans are losing hope. They thought things would change under Ruto, but it's just more of the same. Even Rigathi Gachagua is mad. The former deputy president says the abductions are all Ruto's fault. The people of Kenya are sick and tired of living in fear. They want their missing loved ones back home safe and sound. And they want a government that actually cares about them!
