Shooter Jennings digs up secret Waylon tracks

Shooter Jennings found hundreds of old recordings his father made before dying during 2002. The producer discovered three albums worth of unreleased material from the country music legend. He plans to share these hidden tracks with fans who have waited decades for new content. The first album called Songbird features a Fleetwood Mac cover as its main song. Waylon had recorded constantly with his band The Waylors between concert tours.

The country star had fought RCA Records for creative freedom and artistic control over his music. His victory allowed him to record songs without label interference at his personal studios. Many finished tracks never made it onto official album releases during that time period. Digital recording technology eventually replaced these classic analog sessions. Shooter brought back surviving Waylors band members to complete any unfinished work.

Elizabeth Cook and Ashley Monroe helped enhance the title track for modern audiences. The producer mixed everything using vintage 1976 equipment at Sunset Sound Studio 3. He promises two more albums will follow this initial release. These recordings capture Waylon and his band during their most creative years. Fans can hear the passion that made Waylon Jennings a country music icon.
