Edwin Sifuna says he will not quit his job as the ODM Secretary General. He thinks his job is safe because he has always been loyal to the party. Sifuna made a funny post on X, a social media site. He said being the ODM Secretary General is easy. You just need to be loyal and faithful, like Gerald Otieno Kajwang was before him. Some people in ODM think Sifuna's time as Secretary General is almost over. George Aladwa, the head of ODM in Nairobi, said this on Saturday. Aladwa warned Sifuna that other people had had his job before, and they all left. He told Sifuna to stay away from him. Sifuna became the ODM Secretary General in 2016, taking over from Ababu Namwamba. The party officially gave him the job in 2018 at a big meeting called the National Delegates Convention. Recently, some ODM leaders have said bad things about Sifuna. They think he is not as loyal to Raila Odinga as he used to be. Sifuna has said a lot of bad things about the Kenya Kwanza government. Some people in ODM think this shows he does not agree with what the party wants. Sifuna says ODM is still an opposition party. He believes party members can criticize the government because that is their job. This has caused arguments in the party. Some of Raila's friends have told people not to say too many bad things about the government. They say this because some ODM members are working with Kenya Kwanza. People in the party do not agree on whether Sifuna is saying what ODM really thinks. Some important people in the party, like Governors Simba Arati and Anyang' Nyong'o, have supported Sifuna. Arati said Sifuna's ideas match what the party officially believes. Godfrey Osotsi, another ODM leader, also defended Sifuna. He said Sifuna is very smart and has good plans for the party. Osotsi thinks people should respect Sifuna. If there are any problems with how Sifuna is leading, Osotsi says the party should deal with it in the right way.
