The Governor of Anambra State believes his state has the hardest-working judges in Nigeria. Professor Chukwuma Soludo shared these thoughts at former Chief Judge Godwin Ononiba's recent 88th birthday party. The celebration also marked the release of Ononiba's new book, Wisdom On The Bench. Soludo praised Ononiba and what he represents for the legal system. Soludo pointed out that Anambra ranks second only to Lagos for the number of court cases each judge must handle. He asked the court system to keep helping maintain justice across the country. Soludo promised to keep celebrating Ononiba and others who have served with similar dedication. The governor clearly values what these legal pioneers built for future generations. Professor Ilochi Okafor also spoke at the event. The former head of Nnamdi Azikiwe University reviewed Ononiba's book during the celebration. He described Ononiba as humble despite his high position. Okafor mentioned how junior lawyers felt comfortable arguing cases against more established attorneys when Ononiba presided over the court. Okafor feels excited about the younger judges working in Anambra today. He called them dynamic and praised their efforts in tackling case backlogs. Their rulings already show similarities to Ononiba's respected approach. Okafor believes these energetic judges just need mentoring from experienced jurists like Ononiba. Many famous judges and lawyers from across Nigeria came to honor Ononiba at the event chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice Anthony Iguh.
