Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud just flew to Uganda for a work trip. He wants to build better ties with Uganda and team up against terror groups back home. The Somali office shared on Saturday that Mohamud plans to meet with President Yoweri Museveni. They will talk about fighting what they call "Kharijite terrorists" together. Mohamud has visited Uganda twice in just two months. His last trip happened in February when he met with Museveni for important security talks. Uganda helps Somalia a lot with military support. They send soldiers as part of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia, known as ATMIS for short. These troops fight against al Shabab, a dangerous terror group that causes many problems in Somalia. The Somali leader announced his arrival through the social media site X, which people used to call Twitter. His message said he came to push forward joint efforts against terrorists and strengthen the friendship between both countries. Uganda does more than just fight terrorists—it also helps Somalia become stable again and rebuild its army after years of conflict. Both countries have worked together for many years on security issues. Their partnership matters greatly for peace across East Africa. The terror group al Shabab has caused much harm in Somalia and sometimes attacks nearby nations. By working together, Somalia and Uganda hope to reduce these threats and create more safety for everyone living in the region.
