Security leaders met last Friday at the UN base in Mogadishu to discuss keeping everyone safe in Somalia. Joseph Katuramu, the top UN safety expert, led this important talk and gathered people from different security teams. These included John Douglas from UN Safety, the UNSOS security chief, and Uganda's Lt. Col. Peter Barigye, who commands the UN Guard Unit XI. Katuramu told everyone they must work together closely. He stressed that leaders need to watch over their teams carefully. This helps guarantee protection for all staff at every post. He believes that sharing information between groups improves protection. When teams plan together, they create stronger safety nets for everyone involved with the mission. Douglas praised the Ugandan soldiers for staying alert at their posts. He noticed how ready they always seemed when he passed by their positions. He thanked them for keeping high standards day after day. The deputy adviser recognized how well different security groups cooperate. Their teamwork protects UN workers, buildings, plus valuable equipment throughout Somalia. Lt. Col. Barigye called the meeting very helpful for strengthening security. He promised his soldiers would keep working with all other safety teams. Their main job focuses on guarding the UN compound from threats. Barigye wants to make sure UN operations continue without problems or dangers disrupting important work. Many other security experts joined this meeting as well. Deputy PSA Mark Gdela attended alongside operations chief Magretha Strydom. Pathou Gangale came as head of PREMSEC with deputy Levan Beselia. Major Jacob Kaburika represented the deputy UNGU position. Several department heads brought their knowledge to the table. This gathering shows a new push toward better teamwork against security risks. Everyone agreed they must act together rather than separately when facing threats.
