St. Petersburg lawmakers just passed a bill about newspaper kiosks after the city tore down many fruit stands. The city wants to set a minimum number for these news outlets across town.
The Legislative Assembly approved the first reading of the governor-backed bill on Wednesday, April 16. The bill establishes the number of newspaper stands in the city. According to the parliament press office, St. Petersburg will maintain at least 2,519 locations selling printed materials over the next five years.
Reports indicate officials are changing the retail outlet layout throughout the northern capital again. Last winter, crews removed stalls near the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood along the Griboyedov Canal embankment.
