A government minister fired back at his critic after she blasted him online for corruption. Tinoda Machakaire serves as Youth Minister and wants former opposition spokeswoman Fadzayi Mahere to take back her harsh words. His lawyer Method Ndlovu gave her just one day to remove the nasty posts from her X account. Mahere had questioned whether the minister helped cover up an $8 million tax dodge scandal. She suggested corrupt officials let wealthy car importers escape punishment. The legal letter accused Mahere of calling the minister a thief and liar without proof. Ndlovu said she painted his client as corrupt and dishonest to her massive online following. Mahere had posted that taxpayers deserved better leaders after learning about the vehicle import scheme. The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission had investigated the case but charges were mysteriously dropped. Her final comment about needing new leadership really angered the minister's team. Mahere's social media blast reached 33,000 people and sparked dozens of angry responses. The lawyer said she acted like a judge and found the minister guilty without a fair hearing. He complained that she picked on his client from all the government officials she could have targeted. Mahere refused to answer phone calls or messages about the legal threat. The minister demanded she apologize publicly and stop spreading what he called lies about his character.
