[QUOTE="Munyaradzi Mafaro, post: 48962, member: 636"] Students from Pwani University made a long trip to say goodbye to their friend Albert Ojwang. They traveled from Kilifi County all the way to Kokwanyo village for his funeral. The young people gathered around a white tent where his body rested. Many cried as they looked at their former classmate one last time. Some hugged each other for comfort during the sad ceremony. Albert was much more than just another student on campus. The 31-year-old man worked as a teacher and wrote blogs online. He came from Kakoth village and studied languages and religion at the university. Albert led the Luo Students Association and helped other students with their problems. He stayed close to younger students even after he finished school. Police arrested Albert on June 7 for posting something on social media. Officers claimed he wrote bad things about someone important on his X account. He died just days later inside a jail cell. Police said Albert hurt himself and went to Mbagathi Hospital where he passed away. Doctors found injuries that showed someone had beaten him badly. The funeral brought people from many different places to his father's house. Students raised their fists and shouted together to honor their friend. They promised never to forget what happened to Albert. His death made many people angry across the country. Albert left behind memories of someone who stood up for what he believed was right.
