People around the world see the number eight as lucky. It means wealth for some cultures. This might be good timing for musician Suluman Chimbetu, who just released his eighth album. He named it Tsapo with fourteen songs. The album comes out today through radio broadcasts in Harare and at an event in his hometown, Chegutu. Chimbetu worked hard on this album for several years. He waited until fans really wanted new music before finishing it. His last album, Entanglement, came out in 2020. He thanked listeners for waiting patiently. Producers Knowledge Nkoma and Prince Tapfuma helped create the music. The album features songs like Timba, Hartley, Mweya, and eleven others. Chimbetu brought in special musicians to help make the sound better. Trust Samende from Mokoomba plays lead guitar on the album. Solo Makore adds rhythm guitar parts. Famous drummer Obert Gomba joined the recording sessions. Chimbetu kept his regular band members involved with the project. His cousin Douglas joined the group after his band broke up. Moffat Nyamupandu stayed with the Orchestra Dendera Kings through the entire process. The team worked together to make quality music. Fans wondered about the five-year gap between albums. Chimbetu believes quality matters more than rushing. He hopes this eighth album brings him success, just as eight means good luck in Chinese culture. His music history includes albums from 2007 through 2020. Chimbetu wants to honor his father, Simon, who died in 2005.
