Police reported that Samuel Musembi killed himself Wednesday after fleeing arrest for a British businessman's murder. Musembi allegedly drove the car that moved 58-year-old Campbell Scott's body from Nairobi to Makueni county forest. He had been staying at a relative's house in Dandora, Nairobi. He asked a friend for shelter there, claiming he needed rest away from home. The friend left for work on Tuesday morning, while Musembi stayed behind, looking anxious. When the friend came back that evening, he found his door locked from inside. He had to break it down to check inside the house. He found Musembi on the bed with foam coming from his mouth and nose. Blood leaked from a stab wound in his neck. After telling family members what happened, the friend rushed Musembi to Mama Lucy's hospital. They refused to treat him because his case seemed very serious. The group then took him to Kenyatta National Hospital Tuesday night. Musembi died Wednesday morning during treatment. One police officer said the suspect faced heavy pressure from the investigation. Criminal Investigations Director Mohamed Amin confirmed Musembi probably took his life. He said an autopsy would show more details. First reports suggest Musembi swallowed poison before stabbing himself when the poison worked slowly. The hospital staff told police what happened afterward. Investigators wanted to take Musembi's DNA and fingerprints. They keep looking for his friend who provided the hideout but cannot find him. The DCI asked the public on March 7 to help catch Musembi plus two other suspects - Bernard Mbunga Mbusu and Alphonse Munyao Kilewa. These men allegedly murdered British citizen Campbell Scott. Someone found Scott's decomposing body on February 22, 2025, in Makongo Forest. Scott had just arrived for a business meeting. These suspects tricked Scott into meeting them before he disappeared on February 17. After killing him, they tied up his body and drove over 100 kilometers to dump it among trees in Makueni county. Police have already arrested two different suspects helping with the case. Alex Mutua Kithuka and Albunus Mutinda Nzioki appeared before a judge Monday last week. Lawyers said Scott went to Mutua's Pipeline apartment, where people murdered him. The suspects tried using Scott's credit cards around Nairobi, Voi, and Mombasa. Police caught themon March 1 on Nairobi-Mombasa Road. They learned the first suspect had already moved everything out of his home. Mbusu remains free despite security cameras showing him with Scott on February 16, right before Scott vanished. Police say Mbusu has committed crimes dating back to 2018.
