Swapo pays tribute to Nujoma and Geingob

President Netumbo Ndandi-Ndaitwah honored former leaders as Swapo celebrated its 65th birthday on April 19. She remembered founding president Sam Nujoma, who died on February 8th. She also paid respect to the third president, Hage Geingob, who passed away on February 4th, 2024. Their brave actions created peace for Namibia. Their work established political stability that shapes the nation today.

She thanked citizens for trusting Swapo with leadership for another five years. The November 27 elections showed people want to build a better country together. Everyone chose a path of hope for all Namibians. The president believes they must look forward with new determination. The nation needs to honor its past but focus on future progress.

Swapo made strong gender equality rules at their 2002 congress. They created a 50/50 representation between women and men. Their Zebra Style system became a model across Africa. This approach helps every citizen participate fairly. The president admits more work remains ahead of them. She asked everyone to keep building on 65 years of shared trust.
