A dangerous person ran away from the police in Elwak, a place in Kenya. The police caught him on February 9 because they thought he helped bad people hurt others. They kept him in a jail cell, but he disappeared on February 14 in the morning. A police officer went to talk to the man but found the cell empty. The strange thing was that nothing was broken in the jail. The police arrested two officers who were watching the jail when the man escaped. They looked everywhere but could not find him. This is not the first time people have run away from jail in Kenya. In the past two years, about 250 people escaped from different jails across the country. The police say they need to be extra careful with dangerous prisoners because these people might try very hard to escape. Just two weeks ago, fourteen other people escaped from different jails. Eight of them broke out of Wundanyi prison by cutting a hole in the roof. The guards found out hours later when they checked the cells. The police caught five of these people later. That same night, one person escaped through the roof of a jail in Bomet. He had been caught for stealing. The police officer said the man ran away when he left to buy food. Five more people escaped from another jail called Moiben because the door was not locked properly. The police want to prevent this from happening again. They say guards must watch dangerous prisoners more carefully and follow special rules to keep them in jail.
