Tesla leads all car makers in reducing dependence on China for essential parts. Piper Sandler analyst Alexander Potter released a research note praising Tesla's battery supply chain strategy. The company almost completely avoids Chinese suppliers for their special 4680 battery cells. Future plans include Tesla making cathode materials, refining lithium, building anodes and coating electrodes. The company aims to handle every step from raw materials to finished vehicles. Potter states no other American company can match Tesla's comprehensive approach to supply chain independence. Complete separation from Chinese suppliers remains impossible short term but Tesla has detailed long range plans.

Next week Tesla will demonstrate self-driving technology and launch robotaxi services in Austin.
