Former New Vision Employee Dies in Entebbe Road Crash.

Police launched a search Sunday for a driver who struck and killed Isaac Ddumba, a former New Vision employee, near the Kyelima Hard Warehouse along Entebbe-Kampala Road.

The fatal crash happened at 6:00 AM when a Toyota Prado TX lost control and hit Ddumba as he stood by the roadside. The impact threw him into a water-filled drainage channel, where he died from his injuries. Police identified the vehicle's registration as CGO 9207AF 19.

"We urge anyone with information about the whereabouts of the driver to report to the nearest police station," said Traffic Police Spokesperson Michael Kananura. The driver fled the crash site immediately after the incident.

Authorities moved Ddumba's body to Mulago City Mortuary and towed the vehicle to Namasuba Police Station for investigation.

The crash adds to Uganda's rising road safety concerns. Police data shows that road deaths increased 6% from 4,534 in 2022 to 4,806 in 2023, and serious injuries rose 10% from 15,227 to 16,736 during the same period.

Law enforcement officials have called on all motorists to follow traffic rules and drive with care to prevent future deaths on Uganda's roads.
