Trump Admin Wipes LGBT Data from US Health Sites

Trump Orders Federal Health Sites to Remove LGBT, Vaccine Content.

The Trump administration has removed LGBT health information and certain vaccine data from federal websites. This follows a Wednesday memo telling agencies to end taxpayer-funded programs that promote "gender ideology."

Federal health agencies started taking down web pages about gender, sexually transmitted diseases, and LGBT health on Saturday. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) displayed error messages on many pages with a banner stating: "CDC's website is being modified to comply with President Trump's Executive Orders."

Key CDC resources have vanished, including the National Youth Risk Behavior Survey and pages about supporting LGBTQ+ youth. A vaccine page returned without information about the pox vaccine, which serves gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) removed diversity and inclusion content. Its Office of Civil Rights page shows an error message instead of information. HHS spokesman Andrew Nixon confirmed these changes align with Trump's January 20 Executive Orders.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) website became inaccessible Saturday afternoon. A database containing decades of aid records displayed a temporary closure notice.

The Office of Personnel Management directed agencies to remove "outward-facing media that inculcate or promote gender ideology." The memo also instructed staff to disable email features requesting pronouns.

A National Institutes of Health grant supporting diverse research staff ended unexpectedly on January 24, 2025. The grant's information page leads to an error message with a frowning emoji.

An HHS employee expressed concern about the grant's termination impact on scientific progress. "It might be years or decades before we understand the negative effects on science," the employee said.

These changes follow Trump's earlier executive orders banning diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in government. The administration recognized two biological sexes and ordered agencies to remove diversity-related content from websites.

In a separate development, the administration dismissed prosecutors investigating the US Capitol riot and requested names of FBI agents involved in these investigations.
