The M23 rebels became active again in 2022 and forced more than one million people to leave their homes. Other African countries like Angola tried to help solve the fighting but could not make it stop. American and European leaders have asked both sides to talk instead of fight. This new peace deal that Trump arranged could be very important for ending the conflict.
