The Gambia joined many other countries to protect a special court called the ICC. This court helps catch people who hurt others during wars. At least 81 countries joined together when American President Donald Trump said mean things about the court. Trump became angry on Thursday. He thought the court made a mistake by looking at both sides in the fighting between Israel and Hamas. He said the court had no right to check what America and Israel did. America and Israel never joined this special court as members. Trump wanted to punish people who helped the court look into what Americans did. He said these people and their families could not visit America or use American money. But the head of the court, Tomoko Akane, said Trump's actions hurt many people who needed help finding justice. The court recently said they wanted to arrest Israel's leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, and another important person called Yoav Gallant. The court believed these men told soldiers to attack regular people in Gaza. They also wanted to arrest someone from Hamas who did bad things. Tomoko Akane asked all the countries who believe in the court to help protect it. Many important countries listened. The Gambia joined with other African countries like Sierra Leone and South Africa. Big countries like France and the United Kingdom helped defend the court. All these countries wrote a message together saying they would keep supporting the court's work. They promised to make sure no one stopped the court from doing its job fairly.
