Gang members killed two people and kidnapped two others during fighting in Anambra State. The violence happened Thursday night around 8:40 when armed criminals started shooting at busy road junctions. Police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga said the attackers used guns without caring who they hurt. Security forces from different agencies rushed to the area after hearing about the trouble.
Joint teams made up of police officers, soldiers, navy personnel, and local guards took control of the situation. They saved two victims from the criminals and one woman needed hospital treatment for her injuries. The Area Commander from Aguata led police efforts with help from other security groups. People who saw the attack told officers that gang members drove a motorcycle and black Lexus SUV with no license plates.
Police asked residents to stay calm as they search for the suspects. Officers found important clues at the crime scene that might help catch the criminals. They also gathered information from witnesses who saw what happened during the shooting. Security teams continue patrolling the area to prevent more violence between rival cult groups.
