Lagos police officers caught two traffic robbers during Tuesday morning operations around Ketu and Mile 12. Samuel Adekunle and Yemi Aparaojo face charges after Rapid Response Squad members arrested them at 11 AM. The specialized unit confirmed both suspects had been stealing from people stuck in traffic. Officers found the men operating in Kosofe Local Government areas. Police posted details about the arrests on their Facebook page Wednesday. Aparaojo had just left Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre last May after serving six and half years behind bars. Adekunle had been wanted for several robbery cases across Ajelogo and Ketu neighborhoods. The two men worked with other criminals to target drivers and passengers. Police had been tracking Adekunle for months before his capture. Both suspects specialized in taking money from people during traffic jams. The gang stole N25,000 from a victim last week after threatening him repeatedly. Four robbers surrounded the man and demanded cash from him. The victim tried to help but the criminals attacked him and took his money. Two other gang members ran away through Ketu Market when police arrived. The victim recognized Adekunle on Tuesday and called officers immediately. CSP Sola Jejeloye commands the Rapid Response Squad and follows orders from Commissioner Moshood Jimoh. Police have added more patrol cars around Ketu and Mile 12 to stop future crimes. The suspects will appear in court soon for their charges. Officers continue searching for the two escaped robbers. Security teams want to protect people from traffic robbery attacks.
