Universal Audio just released some cool new gear for musicians and sound people. They made the Apollo E Series, which has two different boxes that connect to Dante networks, and they made a new Apollo x16D interface that lets you use UAD plug-ins both at shows and in studios. The Apollo e1x gives you those famous Unison preamp sounds from brands like API, Avalon, Manley, Neve, and SSL when you hook it up with an Apollo x16D. The Apollo e2m offers great headphone listening and line connections anywhere on your Dante audio network. Both these devices can be mounted right on mic stands for live shows, broadcast rooms, or networked studios. These E Series devices work through Power over Ethernet, which means one cable handles everything. You can use them with any Dante setup as network endpoints whether or not you have the Apollo x16D interface. The e1x costs $399 from places like Sweetwater or Thomann, and it lets you expand your setup with remote-controlled mic preamps. The Apollo e2m runs $499 and works perfectly with the x16D interface. This little box helps you connect headphones, in-ear monitors, powered speakers, outboard gear, analog preamps, synths, and drum machines anywhere you need them. You can place it wherever you want to monitor because it uses that same Power over Ethernet setup with a built-in mic stand mount. The Apollo x16D itself is an 18 x 20 audio interface with HEXA-core processing. It plays nice with digital mixing boards and Dante systems, giving you access to more than 200 UAD plug-ins, including stuff from Neve, API, Lexicon, SSL, and Auto-Tune. You also get classic gear like the Teletronix LA-2A and UA 1176 compressors right at your fingertips. The x16D lets you mix performances using UAD plug-ins in real time over Dante networks. You can save your settings as Plug-In Scenes and recall them instantly during shows. Any room with Ethernet becomes a multi-room Apollo studio. The system even includes Apollo Monitor Correction by Sonarworks to help you mix accurately regardless of room acoustics. You can create immersive audio mixes up to 9.1.6 format for Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, Sony 360 Reality Audio and others. Link up to four x16D units for a massive 64-channel Dante system with network backup options. All your favorite UAD plug-ins like Auto-Tune, Neve, and Lexicon travel from studio to stage with you. The whole Apollo E Series starts at $2999, and you can pre-order through local retailers right away. Everything ships worldwide next month, May 2025. Universal Audio offers both Essentials+ and Ultimate+ editions, depending on which package you choose. Each adds up to 100+ UAD plug-ins worth thousands of dollars.
