Ubisoft making turn-based Siege game like XCOM

Tom Henderson shared news about a fresh game from Ubisoft today. They want to make a turn-based battle game using Rainbow Six Siege characters. The game might come out in 2026 or 2027. Players can play it on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series machines, and maybe the next Nintendo system. This game will let you pick different fighters based on what each mission needs.

The battles will feel close to XCOM but will add more movie-like scenes between fights. Your missions should last around 25 to 30 hours total. These plans may change since they are still working on the game. Rainbow Six Siege has become very popular for Ubisoft over the past ten years. The company keeps adding new stuff to it all the time because players love it so much.

Ubisoft picked Rainbow Six Siege as a special project along with Far Cry and Assassin's Creed. These three games moved into a new part of the company, and Tencent helped pay to create this new group inside Ubisoft. Soon, Rainbow Six Siege will change a lot with update X. This update adds better-looking graphics and several new ways to play the game.

Players will find new things they can break during matches. Better controls make moving along walls easier. Sound travels more clearly through the game space. New players learn faster with better training before real matches start. A talking wheel helps teams talk fast during fights without typing words.

The ban system changes to make matches start faster. Teams can block certain characters at the same time. R6 ShieldGuard fights against cheaters with live updates that happen without stopping the game. This makes creating cheat programs harder than before. Better behavior rules make sure everyone plays fairly during matches. These improvements aim to keep the game fresh for years ahead.
