UDA to Hold Grassroots Elections in 22 Counties in April 2025

UDA Party plans to hold grassroots voting across 22 counties next month. These counties include Bungoma, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale, Lamu, Machakos, Makueni, Wajir, and Mandera. Other areas with upcoming elections are Marsabit, Migori, Mombasa, Nyamira, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Tana River, and Turkana. The party will run these local elections on April 11 and 12 next year.

Almost 114,000 people have already registered as candidates for these local positions. Party head Cecily Mbarire says anyone interested can still register until March 21, 2025, at midnight. Members just need to visit the website UDA.ke to register. The party had already finished similar elections in five other counties before this round.

Party leaders met earlier this week when the National Steering Committee talked with the Elections Board. They discussed all the details for this second phase of grassroots voting. Mbarire explained that these elections matter because they help local voices be heard throughout the country. She believes local leaders stay more connected to everyday citizens.

The party bought 10,000 electronic devices to make voting smoother and more modern. This digital system aims to keep everything open and fair during the election process. Results will appear right away after polls close in each area. Mbarire asked all Kenyans to join the party and take part in these important local elections. She wants every community to find leaders who truly represent them.
